Welcome to Little Tallies!
Little Tallies is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use our website and app.
In this policy, "you" or "your" refers to users of our website and app, including parents and guardians. "We", "our" or "us" refers to Little Tallies, owned by Chrysoula Karanika, trading as Little Tallies. "Our services" refers to the Little Tallies website and app.
1. Children and parent accounts
Little Tallies is designed to help children learn through play. Children can start playing without creating an account.
Parents and guardians can sign in with their Google account to access additional features and save learning progress across devices. Accounts are intended to be created and managed by parents or guardians, not children.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive information needed to identify and manage your account. This may include your email address, account identifier and basic profile information.
Learning progress. The app saves learning progress on your device. When you are signed in, progress may also be stored securely on our servers so it can be accessed across devices.
Website usage. We use analytics to understand how visitors use our website and how we can improve it. Depending on your consent, this may include pages visited, device information and online identifiers.
Messages and sign-ups. When you contact us or subscribe to updates, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address and message.
3. How we use your information
- To provide our services: manage accounts, enable sign-in and save learning progress.
- To maintain security: protect our website, app and users, and keep our services working reliably.
- To improve Little Tallies: understand website usage through analytics where you have given consent.
- To respond to enquiries: answer messages, questions and support requests.
- To send updates: contact you about Little Tallies news and developments when you have subscribed.
We rely on the performance of a contract, legitimate interests or your consent, depending on the purpose of processing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Little Tallies does not display advertisements or use children's personal information for targeted advertising or profiling.
4. Service providers
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate Little Tallies. These include services for account authentication, secure data storage, website hosting, analytics and processing contact forms.
These providers may process personal information on our behalf to deliver their services. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.
Some information may be processed or stored outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use recognised safeguards under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or appropriate contractual protections.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.
- Account information and saved progress: retained while your account remains active and deleted when your account is closed, subject to necessary backup retention and legal obligations.
- Progress stored locally: remains on your device until the app or its stored data is removed.
- Analytics information: retained according to our analytics settings and applicable retention periods.
- Messages: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry.
- Email subscriptions: retained until you unsubscribe or request removal.
6. Closing your account
You can close your account directly in the app by opening Settings (top-left of the dashboard), then selecting About Little Tallies → Close Account → Close.
Closing your account deletes your account and associated saved learning progress from our active systems. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or where retention is required by law.
You can also contact us through our Support & Contact page for assistance with your personal information.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics. Non-essential analytics cookies are used only with your consent.
You can accept or reject optional analytics cookies through our cookie banner and change your preferences later through our cookie settings.
Children can use the app without creating an account. Information necessary for the app to function may still be processed.
8. Keeping information safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including secure authentication and access controls. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights regarding your personal information, including access, correction, deletion and certain controls over its use. You can also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are subject to applicable legal conditions.
To exercise your rights, please contact us through our Support & Contact page.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services develop or legal requirements change. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
